Abstract: Solving Poisson equations playsan important role in various computer graphics tasks, such as imagecomposition, surface reconstruction, vector field design, just name a few.Traditional solvers, such as the finite element method (FEM), provide numericalsolutions only. In this project, we are interested in solving Poisson equationswith piecewise constant Laplacians. We show that this special type of Poissonequation has a closed-form solution, which are represented by harmonicB-splines. We demonstrate our closed-form solver on 2D/3D Poisson vectorgraphics, a new type of vector graphics that overcomes the limitations of theexisting first- and second-order diffusion curve images.
